Our history
Ivanov & Yonkova Law Firm was established in early 2019 by attorneys Doychin Ivanov and Tsveta Ivanova-Yonkova. We act mainly for small and medium-sized enterprises and entrepreneurs. For a business, a legal question is rarely an end in itself — it is part of a commercial decision with deadlines and costs attached. We therefore work proactively and explain matters in plain language. Alongside advisory work we represent clients in civil, commercial, employment and administrative proceedings, and offer mediation and assistance in negotiations to resolve existing or potential commercial disputes.

How we work
The way we work is part of the service, so we set it out in advance rather than leaving it to emerge along the way.

First conversation
We hear the matter out and say whether it actually calls for a lawyer. If it does not, we say so — that saves both sides time and cost.

Review of the documents
Before proposing a course of action we read the documents. Advice given on a client's description changes in the great majority of cases once the papers are seen.

A proposal before the work
You receive a written proposal setting out the scope of work and the fee before it begins. Where the outcome depends on matters outside our control, we give a range and say what it turns on.

Options, not a single answer
Where there is more than one route, we set out all of them, with their advantages, costs and risks. The choice is the client's; our task is to make it an informed one.

Kept informed
We report every development in the matter, including when there is none. Silence from a lawyer is the most common client complaint, and it is avoidable.

The out-of-court route first
Where a dispute can be resolved by negotiation or settlement, we propose that before proceedings. It is faster, cheaper and often preserves the commercial relationship.
